The Creuse is often called the green hart of France, where time stands still. Even to the French themselves it is the “real France”. So, a true paradise for walkers. For speedy walkers and day dreamers and anyone in between. For walks of an hour or treks of several days and any distance in between. Everyone – in their own way - can enjoy the silence and beautiful scenery.          

There are more than 2.500 kilometres of hiking trails available throughout the Creuse. Almost every community has several itineraries.

In addition, we have identified several trails leaving from our house, from 1 up to 6 hours. All itineraries give a good overall idea of the real Creuse, flora and fauna, beautiful views and maybe a chance meeting with the Creusois. Detailed itineraries and topographic maps are available.

To whet your appetite, you will find 3 itineraries on this page, which we often recommend to our guests. In addition there is a CMA-round (of the Communauté Marche Avenir, a union of 5 communes, including Moutier-Malcard). You cannot do the walk in one day, but we can take or fetch you halfway. The same applies if you want to do the Northern Creuse round for several days, which goes by our house.

To respond to even greater expectations, we have made a selection of the prettiest itineraries in the Indre as well.

The French are real walkers. Almost every Sunday, somewhere, there is an organised walk. Twice a year also in Moutier-Malcard. Since we have been here, it has become a tradition to participate with our guests (not obligatory) and, together, we have already won 2 cups.
