Swimming
The Creuse map is not only coloured in green but also in blue. Indeed, there are a lot of possibilities for swimming. Of course the water is not salty and there are no waves, but in exchange you will get small quiet beaches, where you can let your children splash around without being stressed about losing them in the crowd!

There are lots of opportunities to hire a canoe or water bike, play some kind of ball and to eat and drink something.

And, if you do not fancy swimming in natural water, you can always go to the swimming pools of Crevant, Bonnat, Pouligny-Notre-Dame and La Châtre (the last two indoors). You can even have thalassotherapy in Pouligny.

Canoeing and Kayaking
In the heart of the lovely village of La Celle Dunoise on the Creuse river, there is a "Sport and Nature" base, where you can hire all equipment and take lessons.

Diving
A few kilometres from our house, in a former stone quarry (granite), you will find a diving centre, the Centre Subaquatique de "La Graule", where you can take diving lessons. The atmosphere, the clear blue water, the overgrowth and the fish make you feel as if you were in the tropics. Only the temperature (water and air) feels different.

Fishing
The Creuse has 4000 kilometres of rivers and brooks and 3000 hectares of lakes. Clearly this is a fishermen’s paradise! The Tourist Board publishes a special fishing guide book and they even have a fishing (or should we say fisherman’s) consultant and school. You can practise fishing in still and running waters. Trout, char, fountain salmon, grayling, pike, zander, black bass and crayfish abound. The real fishermen should look at the many pages on fishing on the French version of our site.
